Art / Design Teacher
Sacramento Waldorf School seeks an engaging and creative High School Art Teacher (Long-Term Substitute) to lead our senior Leather work course during Quarter 2 of the 2025–2026 school year. This short-term position (November 3–January 16) involves 4 hours per week of hands-on teaching on Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.
The Practical Arts program at Sacramento Waldorf School invites students to transform raw materials into meaningful works of art. Through leather work, woodwork, and other craft disciplines, students develop dexterity, creativity, and an appreciation for beauty and function.
The teacher will inspire adolescents through guided hands-on projects, collaborate with colleagues across the arts, and contribute to the school’s rich community life. This position is ideal for an educator who loves working directly with students in creative settings.
Education and Related Work Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Craft, Design, Industrial Arts, Education, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in one or more practical art disciplines (woodworking, metalworking, leather work, weaving, etc.).
- Waldorf teacher training or a strong understanding of Waldorf education principles is highly desirable.
- Experience teaching high school students.
- Knowledge of safe handling and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Background clearances as required by state and federal regulations.
- Mandated Reporter certification (renewed annually).
- Sexual Harassment Prevention training certification (renewed every two years).
- CPR/First Aid certification (renewed every two years).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including reading and responding to email.
- Ability to use our computer system to record grades and manage attendance.
- Ability to manage small and large groups effectively.
- Understanding of adolescent development, presenting patience and encouragement.
- Demonstrate and practice safe use of tools and equipment and maintain a clean and safe environment in the classroom.

Salary Range: $2,824.53-$4,110.29 depending on experience.
