Position: Elementary Home School Communicator (Title l) 2025-2026
Location: Florissant

Job Summary

The Title I Home School Communicator provides support, education, and resource referrals to students and families. The Communicator will provide interventions to students and perform therapeutic services to individual students and their families to assist with social and emotional concerns related to their educational and social progress. The Communicator will also provide consultation and support to staff.

Duties / Responsibilities

Intervention Services

  • Provide individual, family or group therapy for children who are experiencing problems in school, home, or community with an emphasis on early intervention and prevention.
  • Develop support plans for students with identified goals, report progress of the student.
  • Provide crisis intervention geared towards protecting the safety and emotional well‑being of students.
  • Complete home visits with students and families as necessary to improve the home‑school connection with the goal of improving academic and behavioral success.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, nurses, counselors, administrators, other school staff, as well as outside agencies, to assist in the planning and programming for students.
  • Set individual student goals, document services provided, and monitor progress of each student.
  • Analyze student specific data to determine needed interventions and progress.
  • Encourage and assist families in the pursuit of community services that may assist with the current presenting problem.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on student, teacher, school or District needs.

Teacher & Staff Support

  • Receive information from staff, administrators, and parents regarding appropriate services at school and in the home for students who require additional support.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, IEP meetings, 504 plans, and care team referrals to provide input in developing treatment goals, behavioral interventions, and additional supports for the child.
  • Provide staff support and education in the area of childhood mental health and human behavior.
  • Report progress of students to staff and administrators on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate as a member of the school‑wide PBIS leadership team to provide input in developing behavioral interventions and intervention system support.
  • Serve as a task‑manager for graduate social work students from local universities as deemed necessary.
  • Develop a network of support systems with other district social workers, outside agencies, and district staff to support students and families.
  • Must be able to run, jump, walk, stand, sit, and lift.

Professional Development & Meetings

  • Attend and participate in all required meetings and professional development.
  • Actively lead and/or participate in district professional development activities.
  • Actively lead and/or participate in building professional development activities.
  • Actively lead and/or participate in specific professional development meetings as deemed necessary to assist students.
Minimum Qualifications

Education / Certification

  • Master’s degree and social worker’s license (LCSW), master’s degree and counseling license (LPC), or counseling certificate issued by Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
  • Preferred:
    Master’s degree and LCSW with school social work experience.

Required Knowledge

  • Broad knowledge of social work services, student interventions, and support systems for students and families.

Experience Required

  • Experience in providing social services or counseling assistance to children and their families.
