Essential Functions of Position

For the 2024‑2025 academic year, over 12,000 students were enrolled, 68% Latinx, 8% Asian/Pacific Islander, 3% Black/African American, 17% White, 1% American Indian/Alaska Native, and 3% multiracial. Madera Community College is a Hispanic‑Serving Institution and is deeply invested in the educational attainment and economic well‑being of its surrounding community.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a variety of courses in Ethnic Studies as assigned;
  • Create curriculum in Latinx or Chicano Studies, African American Studies, Asian American Studies or American Indian Studies as applicable;
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other discipline faculty at Madera Community College and within the District;
  • Maintain currency in the Ethnic Studies discipline;
  • Serve as faculty advisor for student groups as applicable;
  • Work with campus and community organizations to complement and enhance the Ethnic Studies programs;
  • Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed;
  • Participate in program development and expansion of Ethnic Studies courses, including connections with industry and Career and Guided Pathways;
  • Participate in curriculum development and review, including program review, student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning;
  • Identify and recommend potential adjunct faculty to teach classes;
  • Assist in evaluating adjunct instructors;
  • Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off‑campus and large‑group instruction classes as needed;
  • Otherwise fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and of the need for equity‑minded practice within the classroom.
