Psychology, Guidance Counselor: Social/Educational
Location: Chesterfield
This opening is a full-time 1.0 position on a teacher's salary schedule for the school year. Position serves multiple schools in the North region of the district:
Northeast Middle School and North High School.
Qualifications
Education - A valid license issued by the Missouri State Board of Social Work LCSW, Board of Professional Counselors LPC, or Missouri State Committee of Psychologists as a licensed psychologist.
Knowledge/Skills - Knowledge of child and adolescent development, family dynamics, various therapeutic modalities, dialectical skills, and evidence-based interventions, plus a workable knowledge of school law, policies, and special education. Current awareness of mental health disorders and challenges facing students. Skilled at individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, conducting individual and/or family assessments, and collaborating with other professionals within and outside of the school district.
Ability to partner and relate effectively with students, their families, and all school faculty. Knowledge of trauma-informed principles, including the ability to articulate best SEL practices and alternatives to exclusionary discipline, including restorative school practices.
Experience - Previous experience in counseling/social work with school-age students. Work experience in a school setting is preferred.
