Overview
Madera Community College seeks a Plant Science Instructor to provide instruction on the Madera Community College campus and/or at off-site community locations. The instructor will teach a part-time schedule of Plant Science courses as assigned, using a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats.

Responsibilities
- Teach a part-time schedule of Plant Science courses as assigned
- Utilize diverse pedagogies and instructional delivery systems (in-person, online, hybrid)
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff
- Adhere to institutionally approved curriculum outlines
- Evaluate student progress via tests, assignments, oral responses, etc., aligned with course objectives
- Provide course syllabi to students
- Maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy
- Submit required grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner
- Fulfill duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to the diverse backgrounds of community college students. Qualifications may include:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of directly related professional experience; or
- Associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- Equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency process required)
Note:
If degrees listed on transcripts do not exactly match the stated minimum qualifications, petitioning for equivalency is required.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities
- Experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical patterns in higher education
- Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices to support racially minoritized students
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds; including students with disabilities
- Experience working with underrepresented student populations and fostering inclusive environments
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success
- Familiarity with educational technology and current assessment methods
- Knowledge of the community college mission and goals

Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours. The selection and hiring process for part-time faculty positions is governed by the hiring department. If there is interest, the hiring department will contact applicants for questions or interviews.
