Community Education Summer Camp Instructors to teach week-long summer camps to students ages 5-14.

SCC Summer Camps provide hands-on experience in specialized fields such as science, engineering, technology, chemistry, math, language arts & literature, computer science, career exploration, visual arts, performing arts, culinary, and sports. The SCC Summer Camps specialize in STEAM opportunities, and we are especially looking for instructors in these areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop appropriate camp curriculum based off your camp theme and have lesson plans completed & submitted by specific due date.
  • Plan, organize, implement, and lead age-appropriate activities for children in your camp.
  • Read and respond to all communications from leadership via email and on Microsoft Teams regarding camps, expectations, and camper concerns
  • Read and understand information and expectations about health and background/IEPs for campers in your assigned camp PRIOR to the beginning of camp
  • Submit supply requests & receipts to Program Specialist in a timely manner
  • Work with an assigned assistant (as applicable) to provide a welcoming camp for all children, including greeting parents and creating a positive environment
  • Make sure all arrival /departure procedures are followed (signing in/out with  parents)
  • Communicate effectively with staff, assistants, campers, and parents, including sharing any issues that arise, and reporting all safety and/or health issues in a timely manner to the Program Specialist and Lead Support Staff
  • Take responsibility for the care and safety of the participants, monitoring campers and ensuring campers follow camp rules and work to prevent accidents. Work to de-escalate situations in the classroom and utilize Support Staff when additional help is needed.
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Weekly between June 1 - August 7, 2026
  • Instructors will be assigned based on availability and specialized field. Compensation is paid on a stipend basis for half or full day camps and is tiered based on education and experience. Minimum stipend for a full 5-day week is $375/half day camp or $750 for a full day camp.
  • Camps run from:
    • 9 a.m.

      -4 p.m. (Full day)
    • 9 a.m.

      -12 noon (AM half day)
    • 1 p.m.

      -4 p.m. (PM half day)
    • Instructors should plan to be available with enough time to set-up and clean-up each day of camp, prior to campers arriving and after campers leave.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience or advanced studies in the specialized field of camp
  • Experience working with children
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic communication
  • Professional interpersonal and customer service communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized to submit documentation (i.e. Lesson plans, supply requests, etc.)
  • Punctual, responsible and trustworthy with confidential information
  • Trainings required before start date (Trainings will be offered on-site, if not already certified):
    • HR Orientation (new SCC employees only)
    • KnowBe4 Technology Safety Training
    • Summer Staff Orientation
    • CPR & Epi-pen
    • Mandated Reporter
  • Must be able to handle behavioral issues when they arise
