Description
The teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a program which creates an environment in which students can learn and develop optimally.
Role and Responsibilities- Instruction:
- Providing dual language instruction to elementary students
- Willingly assisting the instructional process in its many forms.
- Supporting school-wide instructional initiatives.
- Gathering student data through observation, dialogue, testing tools, etc., and designing strategies to meet student needs.
- Remaining current with Louisiana Student Standards and other instructional requirements.
- Attending Professional Development sessions.
- Assessment:
- Conducting regular formative and summative student assessment.
- Maintaining an accurate and current gradebook, tracking student data, and drafting report cards.
- Other Duties:
- Effectively communicating with school administrators, teachers, student service personnel, parents regarding student performance and plans for improvement.
- Participating in Student Assistance Team (SAT) meetings as needed.
- Supporting students and administration in Positive Behavior Intervention and Support philosophy.
- Assisting students in adopting a behavior conducive to success in the classroom setting.
- Participating in faculty meetings and professional learning communities meetings.
- Assisting in orientation and open houses if requested.
- Modeling non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Performing other job related functions as may be assigned.
- Serving as Team Leader if requested.
- Being punctual, reviewing and following all Staff Handbook policies and procedures.
- Community-Based Learning Initiatives:
- Assisting in the delivery of curriculum that utilizes community resources to enrich the learning experiences of students.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Fluency in French and knowledge and experience in the French curriculum.
- Experience in instruction in an elementary, middle, or secondary school setting.
- Flexibility and a team‑spirit work ethic.
- Well developed interpersonal skills.
- Teaching Certification
- Three or more years teaching experience.
- Experience in differentiating instruction, and supporting students with learning challenges.
