OVERVIEW

Faculty Tenure‑Track Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering at Cal Poly Humboldt (Fall 2026). Emphasis in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, and/or Environmental Resources Engineering.

PROFESSIONAL DUTIES

Instruction: lower‑division, upper‑division, or graduate classes aligned with expertise. General engineering courses (Statics, Risk and Data Analysis, Systems Analysis, Computational Methods) as needed. Teaching load reduced by one course per semester during first two years.

Research: record of original research published in peer‑reviewed journals. Scholarship: activities that support retention, tenure, and promotion. Service to the University, profession, and community: advising, campus and system‑wide communities, office hours, collaboration with colleagues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution (ABD must complete degree by appointment).
• Excellent teaching record or clear potential for university‑level teaching and student‑centered learning.
• Clear potential for conducting and publishing original engineering research.
• Experience working effectively with diverse student and research populations.
• Knowledge of issues facing students from diverse backgrounds.
• Involvement of students in research and scholarly activity.

Preferred: professional engineer licensure; documented private or public sector experience working with clients and communities.

RANK, SALARY, AND BENEFITS

Assistant Professor. Annual salary range $74,652–$158,688; anticipated starting salary $85,000–$90,000. Comprehensive faculty benefits (health, dental, retirement, wellness programs).
