Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructors are responsible for teaching and supervision of nursing students in on-campus classroom/lab and off-campus clinical settings; evaluating and advising students; maintaining records and completing reports; participating in the development of the program, and other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Health Sciences Education Coordinator.
Job Duties—
Minimum Qualifications- Candidate must possess at least an Associate Degree in Nursing and hold a current Registered Nursing license in good standing with the State of Tennessee.
- Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience as an RN or Allied Health instructor within the last five (5) years.
- Evidence in instructional program management and supervision, teaching and curriculum building is desired.
- Evidence of proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
- Must have good organizational and planning skills.
- Must be willing to remain current in the nursing profession.
- Must have ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships.
Teaching experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing.
- Have teaching and/or peer training experience.
- Demonstrate expertise in the clinical skills required for healthcare associates.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the methods of effective leadership, teaching and supervision.
- Have the ability to maintain organized instruction and clinical experiences.
- Be willing to stay current in the medical field.
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills; must have good organizational and planning skills.
- Be willing to learn and use individualized instructional techniques. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationship with students, faculty, staff and public.
- Must have excellent professional ethics.
