The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Workforce Inclusion Program Manager to launch and grow new initiatives that advance equity in the construction trades, particularly for women, non-binary individuals, and BIPOC workers. This is not an inherited program—you will be building and leading efforts from the ground up, beginning with a brand-new mentorship program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit 20+ mentors from union locals and contractors, prioritizing those with lived experience as women or BIPOC tradespeople.
  • Deliver stipend mentor training in trauma-informed care, conflict resolution, and leadership (with LAUL leadership’s guidance).
  • Pair mentors with mentees during pre-apprenticeship and early apprenticeship stages.
  • Schedule quarterly cohort meetings, provide case management, and track participant progress.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with unions, contractors, and workforce stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Cal-OSHA, the Labor Commissioner’s Office, and others to integrate worker protections into program design.
  • Track outcomes (retention, completion, apprenticeship placements) and prepare reports for funders and stakeholders.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in workforce development, education, public policy, social sciences, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in workforce development, apprenticeship coordination, or program management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build new programs from inception (not just manage existing ones).
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in historically male-dominated industries.
