Summer School Early Childhood T.A​/B

Summer school TA/BA support staff must have an active substitute teacher certification.

• HSD employees currently within a T.A/B.A role will be paid their current hourly rate.
• External hires (must have a substitute teacher certificate) will be paid $15.45 per hour.
• External hires that possess a teacher's certification will receive $17.02 per hour.

Summer School sessions will begin as follows:

• Wednesday, June 3rd – Thursday, June 25th
• 8:30am – 11:00 am
• Summer school is Monday through Thursday (only) for 14 days.

Summer employment is contingent upon enrollment.

• Directly responsible to the building principal or his/her designee.
• Responsible for assisting the teacher(s) in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively.

• 36-60 College Credit hours minimum (B.A.), Missouri Teaching Certification (T.A.)
• Ability and personality to work with colleagues teachers and other staff.
• Requires a minimum of 36 hours of college credit.

• Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
• Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children.
• Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
• Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children.
• Provides escort assistance for children as necessary.
• Helps maintain informal student performance records.
• Assists teacher(s) on maintaining student work and study areas.
• Assist with the supervision of children during play periods.
• Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
• Must be able to run, jump, walk, stand, sit, and lift.

The period of employment is the school term or nine and one-half (9.5) months annually (40 hours per week).

Must hold or obtain a Substitute Certification or current Missouri Teaching Certification issued by DESE

There are three pathways to secure a substitute certificate in Missouri.

• have 36-60 college credit hours,
• complete a 20-hour course online,
• Complete the Parapro assessment.
