Summary:

Responsible for the operation of a Head Start (HS) 0 to 5 center with six or more classes at a site that provides transportation services. Coordinate center operations in accordance with Community Care Licensing (CCL) and Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), philosophy and mission. Assist in fulfilling the Agency’s vision: “A strong Fresno County where people have resources to shape their future free from poverty.”

Supervisory

Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise and evaluate teachers and supervise evaluations of teacher assistants.
  • Provide training and guidance to classroom staff regarding education service goals and operations.
  • Review teachers’ files and weekly reports for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review posted Weekly Activity Plans for developmental appropriateness and compliance with Fresno EOC HHS curriculums.
  • Coordinate and monitor nutrition compliance and activities at the center.
  • Review and approve staff time sheets and related records for assigned center staff.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Communicate and collaborate with supervisor to ensure delivery of quality services to children, families and the community.
  • Serve as a Bus Monitor as needed.
  • Coordinate staff schedules to ensure center office coverage during operating hours.
  • Coordinate scheduling of site activities involving all HS 0 to 5 program service areas (trainings, meetings, orientation, etc.).
  • Coordinate education staff activities including staff meetings, work hours, and task assignments.
  • Ensure classes are staffed to meet required staff/child ratios per CCL and HSPPS.
  • Collaborate with the ECE Specialist on overseeing HS 0 to 5 curriculum and training of teaching staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and personnel files as mandated by CCL and HS 0 to 5 programs; submit reports and evaluations timely.
  • Promote parent engagement by attending parent and LPM meetings and sharing information and resources when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with Family/Community Services in setting up personnel, budget, and parent committees.
  • Maintain a safe environment and center security (LIC 610, drills, lockdowns, etc.).
  • Maintain accident prevention and playground safety programs per Fresno EOC policies, CAL OSHA guidelines (SB198), and HS 0 to 5 policies.
  • Develop transportation routes, schedules, bus stops and ensure compliance with transportation regulations in collaboration with CTSA and assigned bus driver.
  • Monitor site budget preparation and execution.
  • Order and maintain classroom supplies, meals, and maintenance items.
  • Attend and participate in meetings (Teacher/Center Director, site meetings, case conferences, parent LPM meetings) as required.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly education staff meetings and center safety meetings.
  • Escalate concerns to the appropriate Specialist or Service Area Coordinator/Manager in a timely manner.
Classroom Support Responsibilities
  • Serve and substitute in classrooms as needed to maintain required ratios and safety.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy classroom environment.
  • Monitor classrooms and provide written reports and guidance/feedback as required.
Center Director II
  • Responsible for eight (8) to ten (10) classes of 17-20 children per classroom.
Other Responsibilities
  • Attend and participate in conferences, meetings and trainings as required.
  • Model professionalism and promote a collaborative environment across program areas and the agency.
  • Maintain universal precautions and comply with ADA-2010 nondiscrimination obligations for children and adults with disabilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records for HS 0 to 5 staff, children, and families.
  • Travel to HS 0 to 5 centers/sites to communicate, monitor, and visit sites periodically; travel for agency business using reliable transportation.
  • Work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
