The Hospital Educator at Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital will design and implement an inclusive educational program tailored for children with complex medical needs. In addition to providing individualized academic support, this role creates meaningful group educational experiences that promote learning, engagement, and social connection. The educator will help minimize academic disruption and maximize readiness for school reentry. This is a year-round position, Monday-Friday, no holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and oversee individualized and group educational programming for hospitalized patients throughout the full calendar year. Provide one-on-one instruction tailored to each child's academic, developmental, and medical needs. Design group learning experiences, including ancillary educational enrichment (e.g. virtual field trips, speakers), that promote academic and social engagement and teach classroom readiness.

Collaborate with Education Liaisons and students' home school districts to support academic continuity, align hospital-based educational activities with school expectations and learning objectives, and coordinate comprehensive return-to-school transition planning.

Design and adapt educational programming, instructional materials, and learning experiences to accommodate patients' physical, cognitive, sensory, and medical technology needs (e.g., ventilator dependence, mobility restrictions), ensuring equitable access to meaningful educational opportunities.

Partner with interdisciplinary team members, including medical providers, therapy services (PT/OT/ST/RT), behavioral health, and Child Life staff, to deliver educational opportunities that complement established treatment goals.

Document and coordinate educational services by scheduling individual and group educational sessions within the electronic medical record (EMR) and maintaining accurate records of participation and progress.

Education and Experience
Required:
- Valid teaching certification
- Experience in special education preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience within grades K-12
Knowledge, Skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of special education and experience supporting students with disabilities in inclusive learning environments.
- Ability to design and implement lesson plans and adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs.
- Experience with program development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, and healthcare professionals.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in a hospital-based educational setting with varying schedules and conditions.
- Demonstrated passion for education and a commitment to helping students succeed despite medical challenges.
