Missouri River Relief is looking for an Education Coordinato
r to work alongside our Education Director planning and delivering our education programs.
Status: Exempt/Full Time, Salaried
Start Date: January 6th, 2027
Location: Columbia, Missouri
Salary: $41,000- $45,000
Benefits: Group Health and Dental Plan, Simple IRA
Final date to receive applications: October 30th, 2026
The Education Coordinator works alongside our Education Director to plan, build, and lead Missouri River Relief's education programs — field trips, summer camp, speaker series, family programming, and recreational offerings, including our Catfish Gear Library.
This role covers a lot of ground: some days are spent on the river running a program; others are behind a desk handling admin, marketing, or curriculum planning. Throughout the year, the Education Coordinator helps make sure programs are well-organized, well-communicated, and genuinely welcoming for the students, teachers, and volunteers who show up.
At Missouri River Relief, play, adaptability, and reverence guide how we show up — with each other and with the people who join us on the river.
We work with a sense of play, creating space for curiosity, creativity, and ease. Programs are structured, but not rigid. We leave room for questions, laughter, and discovery so participants feel comfortable engaging in their own way.
We practice adaptability because the river is always changing. Weather, river levels, schedules, and group needs shift, and we respond with flexibility and clear communication. Staying calm, adjusting plans, and supporting one another are part of the work.
We approach the Missouri River with reverence. We slow down, pay attention, and treat the river as powerful and deserving of respect. Through time spent on the river, we invite participants to feel that respect and develop their own connection through observation and experience.
The Education Coordinator helps carry this way of working into every program, shaping not just what happens, but how it feels to be there.
About Missouri River ReliefMissouri River Relief is a small but mighty nonprofit connecting people to the Missouri River through hands‑on stewardship, education, and recreation. Since 2001, we've grown our reach from St. Louis to Omaha, with ten full‑time and one part‑time staff.
We're known for running large, well-organized river cleanups with hundreds of volunteers. Our education programs have brought over 42,000 students and teachers to the river — often for the first time. And our recreation programs, including the MR340 paddling race, keep growing right alongside them.
The Education Coordinator is a key part of how we keep that work running strong — planning, marketing, teaching, and everything in between.
