Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Associated Electric Cooperative, we're committed to providing reliable energy to the communities we serve with passion and precision. We're a tight-knit team dedicated to keeping the lights on and the energy flowing smoothly across our expansive network! From technical to operational to professional disciplines, our team brings a wide variety of skills, talents, and expertise to the table. We believe in both dedicating ourselves to excellence and investing in your growth.

As an Operations & Maintenance Technician, you will be part of the team that keeps our gas turbine power generation facilities running safely, reliably, and efficiently. If you enjoy figuring out how things work, solving problems when they do not, and getting hands-on with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, this role gives you plenty to dig into.

What You'll Do
  • Keep things running by operating and monitoring gas turbine equipment through startups, shutdowns, normal operations, and unexpected conditions.
  • Get hands-on troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Spot problems before they become bigger ones by monitoring equipment conditions, alarms, water chemistry, and plant performance data.
  • Work with DCS, PLCs, instrumentation, electrical testing equipment, power and hand tools, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Team up with technicians, leaders, and contractors to coordinate maintenance, repairs, work orders, and daily plant activities.
  • Help keep safety at the center of the work by supporting environmental, health and safety, NERC, and lockout/tagout requirements.
What You'll Need
  • Associate degree in an electrical or mechanical discipline, or equivalent power plant or military experience preferred.
  • Experience with gas turbine power plants, medium-voltage equipment, instrumentation, controls, electrical systems, or mechanical maintenance.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, control diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and an interest in continuing to build your knowledge across plant operations and maintenance.
  • Strong computer, communication, and teamwork skills.

There's room to grow here. This role is part of a job family progressing from Operations & Maintenance Technician to Principal Operations & Maintenance Technician. Placement is based on your skills and experience, with opportunities to take on greater technical responsibility and independence as your expertise grows.
