• Lead Extrusion Development: Own technical development of extrusion processes, tooling, and equipment for new medical device products.
• Design & Prototyping: Design, prototype, and test new product concepts; develop manufacturing methods and validation plans (IQ/OQ/PQ).
• Process Optimization: Establish process windows, troubleshoot extrusion issues, and define key performance indicators for process control.
• Supplier & Material Management: Collaborate with vendors for tooling, materials, and specifications; coordinate procurement of materials and components.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate design, tooling, and process documentation per ISO 13485 and FDA QSR requirements.
• Innovation & IP: Drive invention disclosures and patent filings to strengthen the company’s IP portfolio.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as SME on development teams and mentor R&D technicians as needed.

• Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Biomedical or related field (MS preferred).
• Experience: 8–10+ years in medical device product development, with at least 3 years focused on polymer extrusion.
• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of extrusion tooling, die/screw design, and polymer process controls.
• Experience with validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), DOE, SPC, and PFMEA.
• Understanding of biocompatibility, sterilization, and regulatory standards (FDA, ISO 13485).
• Skills: Strong in SOLIDWORKS, materials science, process troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management; ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
