Overview of Role
As a High-Speed Circuit design engineer and team manager, you will be participating with R&D activities in high-speed wireline and optical interconnects using fundamental analog circuit techniques and communication theories, for circuits operating with speed from 32
Gbps to 448
Gbps. You will be reporting directly to the Director of High-Speed Interconnects in San Jose, CA. We are currently operating in a hybrid work schedule with 4 days in office.
- Perform research and development work to evaluate PPA of circuit-level novelties and tapeout for next generation high-speed electrical and optical interconnects.
- Work with multifunctional teams which include colleagues with expertise in device, circuits, and systems to translate design or system level requirement to process technology requirements via Design/System and Technology Co-optimization (DTCO/STCO).
- Engage with university and industry partners on exploratory research topics and develop key conclusions on technical directions.
- Convert results of innovative works into patents, IP or test-chips, and publications.
- Lead and coach a small team of people and collaborate with peer teams (for people with aspiration and/or skills in team building and leadership).
- MS/PhD degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- Solid background in analog circuit design, preferably wireline I/F, Ser Des, silicon photonics, or data converters
- 15+ years of hands-on experience in designing high-speed/high-frequency circuits is a strong plus.
- Basic understanding of communication theory, termination, channel analysis, clock jitter, low power design, chiplets, serdes, co-packaged optics, data converters, error correction, and equalization, are desirable.
- Experience with custom analog design/layout and tape-out Tool/Flow/Methodology.
- In depth knowledge in your field, with fast learning ability and problem solving skills, and willingness to explore new territories and make critical decisions.
