StructuralPlans Examiner
We are seeking a talented and experienced Structural Plans Examiner to join our team of professionals. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. You’ll be a member of our highly respected team with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.
Responsibilities- Review structural plans for construction projects.
- Review plans and specifications for projects to ensure compliance with city, State of CA, and federal laws and regulations. Provide timely oral and/or written communication detailing design and/or construction deficiencies.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Review building permits with regards to regulations set by the Building Divisions.
- Assist inspectors with difficult or unusual code compliance issues and answer questions from inspectors about plan review comments.
- Cultivate, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with directors, managers, supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and support on assigned projects.
- Experience with CA Codes specific to Structural design.
- Experience/knowledge of wood, concrete, steel and masonry buildings/structures, including CBC, CRC, ASCE7, NDS, AISC, ACI
318, ACI
530 and AISI standards. - Experience/knowledge of wood, steel and concrete lateral load resisting systems (SMF, OMF, BRBF, SCBF, wood and concrete shear walls, etc.).
- Experience/knowledge of structural design software (ENERCALC, ETABS, SAP, RISA, ADAPT, HILTI Profis, Simpson Anchor design, etc.).
- Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology.
- Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions.
- Must possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital.
- Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Structural Professional Engineer Required.
- ICC Building Plan Review Certification Preferred.
- ICC Plan Review Certifications in multiple trades preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- E.I.T. on track to obtain PE license is acceptable.
- 5+ years’ experience in structural design and structural plan review.
Salary Range: $50.00 - $70.00 per hour.
