Structural Plan Engineer

We are seeking a talented and experienced Structural Plans Examiner to join our team of professionals. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. You’ll be a member of our highly respected team with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.

• Review structural plans for construction projects.
• Review plans and specifications for projects to ensure compliance with city, State of CA, and federal laws and regulations. Provide timely oral and/or written communication detailing design and/or construction deficiencies.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Review building permits with regards to regulations set by the Building Divisions.
• Assist inspectors with difficult or unusual code compliance issues and answer questions from inspectors about plan review comments.
• Cultivate, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with directors, managers, supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and support on assigned projects.

• Experience with CA Codes specific to Structural design.
• Experience/knowledge of wood, concrete, steel and masonry buildings/structures, including CBC, CRC, ASCE7, NDS, AISC, ACI
  318, ACI
  530 and AISI standards.
• Experience/knowledge of wood, steel and concrete lateral load resisting systems (SMF, OMF, BRBF, SCBF, wood and concrete shear walls, etc.).
• Experience/knowledge of structural design software (ENERCALC, ETABS, SAP, RISA, ADAPT, HILTI Profis, Simpson Anchor design, etc.).
• Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology.
• Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions.
• Must possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital.
• Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.

• Structural Professional Engineer Required.
• ICC Building Plan Review Certification Preferred.
• ICC Plan Review Certifications in multiple trades preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• E.I.T. on track to obtain PE license is acceptable.
• 5+ years’ experience in structural design and structural plan review.

Salary Range: $50.00 - $70.00 per hour.
