Amperex Technology Limited (ATL) is a global pioneer in lithium-ion batteries for smartphones, laptops, AR/VR and wearables. You’ll join a world-class R&D organization that partners closely with manufacturing to turn breakthrough science into mass-produced products used worldwide at scale.
【What you’ll do】
• Investigate how chemical material compositions and cell designs affect system-level performance, including fast-charging and standard-charging chemistries.
• Run DOE studies to optimize cathode–anode–electrolyte pairings/additives for power, cycle life, safety; build and test coin/pouch cells; conduct EIS, CV, GCD, aging and failure analysis.
• Develop and validate fast-charge strategies (protocols/formation) with BMS/control and thermal teams; assess Li-plating risk and impedance growth.
• Translate findings into specifications, process windows and design guidelines; support pilot trials and ramp to mass production with product/process/manufacturing teams.
• Track literature/benchmarks and propose new directions to sustain ATL’s 2–3 year competitive product roadmap.
• PhD or Master’s in Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Chemical/Physical Chemistry or related. (Designed for 2026 grads; strong 2025 / recent grads also considered.)
• Research track record in lithium-ion cell development; SCI Q1 publications preferred (or equivalent evidence of research excellence).
• Hands-on in electrochemical testing and cell assembly (coin/pouch); fast-charge evaluation (e.g., EIS, CV, GITT/HPPC) and data analysis in Python/MATLAB; DOE experience a plus.
• Familiarity with materials/structural characterization (XRD, SEM/TEM, XPS, Raman, ICP, TGA/DSC) and safety/abuse testing principles.
• Clear communicator (English and Chinese) with a collaborative, curious and resilient mindset; able to decompose problems and deliver outcomes.
【Nice to have】
• Experience in fast-charge mechanisms, Li-plating detection/mitigation, electrolyte additives and interfacial engineering.
• System modeling (electrochemical/thermal) using COMSOL, GT-Auto Lion or equivalent; parameter identification and model validation.
• Experience with BMS/algorithm collaboration, multi-stage/pulse charge protocol design and thermal management.
• Prior industry collaboration or tech transfer experience.
