Manufacturing Process Engineer (Paint Department)

Schedule: Must be flexible for all 3 shifts + frequent weekend work

About the Role

We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to support the Paint Department at a major automotive assembly plant. In this hands‑on engineering role, you will drive improvements in paint processes, robotics performance, safety, quality, and overall productivity. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong technical background who enjoys solving complex problems and working in a fast‑paced production environment.

What

You’ll Do
  • Maintain and improve paint pretreatment, chemistry, and application processes
    .
  • Support and troubleshoot Fanuc robotic systems (approx.
    100 robots
    ).
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety, quality, and environmental standards
    .
  • Lead and support a team of 5–10 employees
    , providing technical guidance as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce defects.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Evaluate and propose process changes, equipment updates, and cost improvements.
  • Support SPQRC goals (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost).
  • Help maintain compliance with ISO
    14001
    and GM Global Manufacturing System processes.
What You’ll Bring Required
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or similar).
  • 1+ year of automotive manufacturing experience
    .
  • Experience working with Fanuc robotics and automation systems.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred
  • Background in paint operations or chemical pretreatment processes.
  • Knowledge of tooling or automotive assembly processes.
  • Experience leading small teams.
