Fire Protection Engineer – Buildings Group

As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, the Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for developing fire protection designs in support of various Buildings Business Line projects. Responsibilities include leading the planning, design, and commissioning of building fire protection systems, suppression systems, and alarm systems.
Responsibilities- Develop fire protection designs for building projects.
- Lead planning, design, and commissioning of building fire protection, suppression, and alarm systems.
- Coordinate with other support disciplines and regional offices.
- Assist project managers in project management, including budget and schedule compliance.
- Follow quality assurance and quality control plans.
- Travel periodically to project sites.
- Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principles.
- Mentor and train technical staff.
- Interface with clients on project design, delivery, and construction.
- Manage project budget and schedule compliance.
- Oversee the fire protection design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle.
- Use BIM design software to produce construction drawings.
- Use software-based calculation tools for design calculations.
- Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
- Time management and product quality responsibility.
- Follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control plans.
- Continued education and learning based on project needs.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university or college.
- Licensed Professional Engineer having passed the Fire Protection examination.
- 5-10 years of building design and construction industry experience.
- Knowledge base of fire protection engineering principals related to building fire protection designs.
- Proven experience overseeing fire protection designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Experience with AIA Master Spec.
- Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria.
