What You Will Be Doing:A leading technology-driven organization is seeking an experienced Software Engineer – Automation Engineering to join its Planter Team. This role focuses on developing innovative robotics and machine control applications that integrate advanced sensors, machine vision, user interfaces, cloud communication, and machine learning analytics. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, a passion for automation, and a collaborative mindset to create high-performance agricultural solutions.
This is a 100% on-site position (5 days per week) with a mix of office and field work at a dedicated test farm. Only local candidates will be considered.
Key Responsibilities:- Build high-quality, innovative, and fully performing robotics and machine control applications with emphasis on data collection using cutting edge sensors, autonomous operation, machine vision, user interface, cloud communication, and machine learning driven analytics.
- Collaborate with other development teams and leverage deep subject matter expertise to deliver customer‑centric solutions.
- Effectively prioritize your day to ensure results on both short‑term immediate initiatives while advancing bigger picture, long‑term efforts.
- Contribute to a wide variety of software projects including reading sensors, controlling machinery, developing user interfaces for agricultural equipment, API development/use, and data mining/analysis.
- Provide support to 1st and 2nd tier support teams, and participate in occasional direct interaction with users, including in‑field visits and testing.
- This position is 100% on‑site, with a mixture of office and field work at the test farm.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and/or Computer Science.
- Candidates with an engineering degree or strong multidisciplinary engineering background are preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with engineers across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and software, to deliver integrated technical solutions.
- 10+ years of experience in C#, C/C++, and Python.
- Experience with industrial automation, machine control, firmware, or IoT.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast‑paced environment.
Skills & Experience:
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment where you work cooperatively with many other people including development teams, business stakeholders and end users.
- Some knowledge of agricultural field research/experimental setup.
- Knowledgeable across multiple functional areas such as verification & test, software design & development, user experience, and customer support.
- Familiar with lab environments and instrumentation.
- Understands database systems and SQL.
- Demonstrated experience with global multidisciplinary teams.
- Creative, proactive, bold, and out‑of‑box thinking.
$70.00 - $100.00 /hr.
