Senior Instrumentation Engineer (Relocation to Saudi Arabia Required)

Process Automation and Systems Division, part of the Process & Control Systems Department, seeks an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to provide expertise to Aramco entities. The role involves design, development, installation, and troubleshooting of instrumentation for Gas Plants, NGL Fractionation Plants, Refineries, petrochemical plants, pipelines, and distribution facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support for all instrumentation types, including level, temperature, pressure, control valves, emergency isolation valves, motor-operated valves, relief valves, flow measurement, and level gauges.
• Conduct engineering studies to determine optimal solutions that increase revenue, reduce cost, and improve process safety.
• Lead task teams to investigate incidents or solve specific technical problems.
• Handle special assignments requiring extensive technical experience, especially when dealing with outside organizations.
• Develop and maintain Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards, Material Specifications, Procedures, and Best Practices.
• Review and evaluate vendors and contractors to determine acceptability for major services.
• Represent the company in technical dealings with vendors, manufacturers, and design firms.
• Perform technical evaluations for instrumentation quotations and attend bid evaluation meetings.
• Introduce best practices and new technologies to achieve best-in-class performance.
• Conduct cost analyses and value engineering studies to recommend cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Mechanical, or Electrical) – Master’s or Ph.D. desired.
• Minimum 20 years of professional engineering experience, preferably with a major international oil & gas company.
• Experience in plant instrumentation sizing and selection (control valves, pressure relief valves, actuators, basic process measurement).
• Certified in ISA – CAP, CFSP, TUV FSEng, PE, or Chartered Engineer license.
• Basic knowledge of H2S, LEL, pH, conductivity, O2 analyzer, CO/CO₂ analyzer, fire & gas detectors, and gas chromatographs is preferred.
• Proficiency in international codes and standards (API, BS, ISO, ASME, ANSI, IEC, ISA, IEEE).
• Lead engineer participation in HAZOP, SIL, P&, design, and model reviews.
• Understanding of control systems, compressor and pump field instrumentation, speed controllers, VMS, CCS.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, Field Bus, TCP, IEC, SPA, RP570, ANSI, and general process automation protocols.
• Active member of a relevant professional society for at least 3 years with current membership.
