Job Description
  • Leadership & Management:
    • Directly manage and mentor the engineering team, focusing on day-to-day operations and project execution.
    • Leverage both in-source and out-source resources to optimize the velocity of delivery and leverage key skill sets.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders across Contact Center, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, HR, and Ship operations to understand their technical needs and ensure technology effectively supports Viking’s growth.
    • Provide regular updates to technology leadership on the progress of key initiatives, required investments to meet business objectives, and ongoing efforts to build and mature critical capabilities.
    • Deliver cost analysis for development projects executed by your organization.
    • Ensure decisions regarding staffing align with the organization’s business plan and vision.
    • Implement engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.
    • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development relevant to the organization’s industry.
  • Operational Management:
    • Implement strategies to address key technological deficiencies.
    • Execute a roadmap for system maturity and technical debt reduction.
    • Communicate with key stakeholders to discuss how the technical strategy aligns with the company’s goals and overall vision.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Oversee all development activities, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
    • Assess and introduce new emerging technologies and infrastructure, ensuring a deep understanding of the business requirements.
    • Deep understanding of AI and its application to consumer facing products
    • Own engineering/technical decisions and oversee implementation of cutting-edge technology products for critical business areas impacting bottom-line.
    • Deep technical expertise to modernize technologies to scale for next decade incorporating AI, machine learning, to enable simple and modern guest experiences
    • Monitor and refine engineering processes, tools, and systems for operational efficiency.
    • Establish and enforce technical standards and best practices.
    • Track, analyze, and report on technology performance metrics.
    • Adhere to strict security standards in code development.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Director of Engineering or in a similar leadership role, with a track record of overseeing and integrating complex systems, including eCommerce platforms, financial systems, and telephony infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and ensure seamless integration of diverse technologies to support business objectives.
  • Strong technical background with hands‑on experience in software development across various languages and system types.
  • Proven experience working with Adobe solutions.
  • Excellent strategic planning and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proven experience managing and developing high‑performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, infrastructure, and security.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.
