Process Safety Management / PSM Engineer – Franklin, LA (Onsite)
Cabot Corporation is seeking a Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer to join the Technical & Operations team onsite at the Franklin, LA site. This role focuses on developing and managing the process safety plan for Cabot’s largest carbon black facility.
Your Role at Cabot- Initiate activities, procedures, and projects that improve product quality, optimize production capacity, ensure equipment reliability, provide capital improvements, integrate new technology and practices, and optimize overall performance.

Responsible for the plant’s development, implementation, and ongoing day‑to‑day management of Cabot’s process safety management systems, ensuring compliance with Cabot’s process safety requirements, OSHA, and EPA RMP regulations.
Responsibilities- Develop, manage, and coordinate the ongoing maintenance of all PSM elements including employee participation plans, written process safety information, process hazard analyses, written operating procedures, training and documentation, contractor requirements, pre‑startup safety reviews, management of change, incident investigations, compliance audits, and trade secrets.
- Lead Process Hazard Analyses for the site, mentor others, identify control improvements, and oversee risk reduction measures.
- Initiate and manage the Change Management process, prepare MOC documents, update systems, and communicate changes.
- Contribute to the development and review of P&, process flows, manuals, and operational documentation.
- Ensure safety compliance of plant utilities and operating units, update operating procedures, train unit operators, and lead MOC processes.
- Monitor environmental compliance, track emissions, ensure new installations meet requirements, and implement footprint reduction changes.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical discipline.
- 2+ years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Production experience in specialty chemical or petrochemical industries (preferred).
- Basic knowledge of chemistry and statistical process control tools.
- Experience with analytical problem‑solving methodologies such as root cause analysis or failure mode analysis.
- Knowledge of quality management principles and compliance with OSHA, RC14001, ISO 9001, and PSM regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Aspen IP.21, AutoCAD, and data analysis.
- Ability to generate, analyze, and interpret data to support equipment decisions.
