The RoleThe Live Service Design Director will be responsible for live‑service tuning and quality‑of‑life improvements, specializing in engagement and retention based on telemetry and player sentiment. This role sets the standard of quality for live‑service deliverables and reports to the Design Line Director. You will work hybrid or onsite in the Vancouver – Great Northern Way studio.
What You’ll Do- Prioritize the needs of feature development, live‑service quality‑of‑life improvements, and critical issues with seasonal stakeholders and craft leadership.
- Ensure feature designs around player engagement meet quality targets and align with seasonal themes.
- Evaluate data and player sentiment, collaborating with team members to identify tuning and balance improvements.
- Inspire and mentor designers on the team to pursue creative designs implemented to the highest quality.
- Provide and solicit feedback from all stakeholders in a constructive manner, offering solutions for process and project improvement.
- Be accountable for project quality targets and the results achieved.
- 5+ years of experience leading game teams and defining design direction in a live‑service environment.
- Experience developing FPS or multiplayer games.
- Understanding of mass‑market appeal and the ability to innovate within it.
The ranges listed below reflect what EA, in good faith, expects to pay for this role in these locations at the time of posting. If you reside elsewhere, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay will be determined based on relevant business and candidate factors.
PAY RANGES- British Columbia (e.g., Vancouver vs. Victoria) – $130,800 to $183,000 CAD
- California (e.g., Los Angeles vs. San Francisco) – $150,100 to $228,000 USD
In the U.S., we offer benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours of sick time per year, 16 paid company holidays, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with a baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and a 401(k) for regular full‑time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
In British Columbia, benefits include vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days of sick time, paid top‑up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100 % of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks maternity, 4 weeks parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan for regular full‑time employees, and potential bonus and equity.
