Under Government Code 14200, eligible candidates residing in California may work partially; all schedules require office attendance minimum days per week.
Under the general direction of the Chief, Internal Audit Bureau (IAB), the Business Taxes Specialist I (Internal Auditor) independently conducts difficult and complex assignments in auditing the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration’s financial, accounting, information technology, tax/fee program, and administrative operations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and policies and procedures. The Internal Auditor develops and implements detailed audit programs to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of CDTFA operations.
The Internal Auditor performs quality assurance (peer) reviews and assists in providing training for IAB staff, demonstrates leadership skills, and facilitates establishment of priorities, adjusting to changing circumstances. Performance aligns with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics.
- Participation in E-Verify; applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Fingerprinting, E-Verify confirmation, and successful background investigation required.
- Travel may be required up to 10% of the time to field offices and up to 15% to Sacramento Headquarters.
- Require a permanent civil service appointment with CDTFA.
- Current or former employees of the legislature for 2 or more years.
- Current or former non‑elected exempt employees of the executive branch for 2 or more consecutive years.
- Retired U.S. military honorably discharged with a service disability or as defined in Government Code; applicants must provide discharge papers (DD 214).
