Police Officer

The Maryland Heights Police Department has an opening for a Police Officer. This position performs a variety of routine and complex police patrol, investigation, traffic regulation and law enforcement activities.

• Performs security patrols, traffic control, investigation and first aid at accidents.
• Detects, investigates and arrests persons involved in misconduct or violations of the law; books prisoners and processes evidence.
• Uses judgment to decide a course of action to handle difficult and emergency situations without assistance.
• Testifies in court proceedings; prepares a variety of reports and records; uses technology to enter information or write reports; responds to calls for service.

The starting pay for this position is $70,860-$81,282 annually with the possibility of lateral pay for experience and Officer top-out at $96,061.

• High school diploma or equivalent, Class A peace officer license, and valid driver license required.
• 2-5 years of experience preferred.
• Must live within 40 miles of Dorsett and Millwell after appointment.

This position has the potential to work inside and outside in all weather conditions. The position has frequent contact with the public.

This position also requires the ability to perform the required physical activities, the ability to communicate effectively, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and the ability to learn the city geographically.
