CLINICAL COUNSELOR

• Apply counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques within the scope of applicable Business and Professions Code and license to improve an incarcerated individual’s mental health and the effectiveness of preventive skills and behaviors developed for wellness.
• Provide preventive outreach and access to mental health services for incarcerated individuals, including those not in the mental health delivery system.

• Education:
  
  Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Psychotherapy that meets the requirements of Business and Professional Code 4999.32.
• Licensure:
  Possession of a valid Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Applicants who do not yet qualify for licensure may be admitted into the examination and may be appointed but must obtain a valid license within four years of appointment; otherwise, employment is limited to eligibility for licensure plus one year.

  A Training and Development (T&D) assignment will not be considered at this time.
