RolePurpose
This year‑long position is for a student in their 4th year of a clinical audiology doctorate (AuD) program. The extern, under the guidance of an experienced audiologist, will develop and refine clinical knowledge and skills needed for professional practice while providing support for the daily functions of the Audiology Department.
Responsibilities- Assist audiologists during hearing evaluations and rehabilitative audiology appointments with testing, diagnosing, and treating pediatric patients with known or suspected hearing loss.
- Administer and interpret newborn hearing screenings in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
- Complete documentation and reports on audio logic findings; organize and prepare paperwork to be scanned into medical records and mailed/faxed to other professionals.
- Restock, order, organize, and dispense equipment needed for the clinic and for patients (i.e., otoscope tips, hearing aid batteries, cochlear implant coils, etc.).
- Provide general maintenance of patient care areas by picking up, cleaning toys and equipment, performing listening checks, and calibrating testing equipment.
