Overview
Salary: $ - $ annually, depending on qualifications. Salary increases: 3% effective February 2026, contingent upon property related revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance. Step advancements include bi-annual increases of approximately 2.5%.
Lead staff to excellence in the delivery of child welfare services. The listing will be used to fill vacancies throughout the County as they occur.
ResponsibilitiesSan Bernardino County is recruiting for Supervising Social Service Practitioners who organize, direct, and supervise the work of a unit of Social Service Practitioners and other staff responsible for diagnostic assessments, and who develop and implement complex treatment plans and specialized service programs that assist individuals in restoring their capacity for social functioning. Through practice and good customer service, Supervising Social Service Practitioners play a critical role in improving outcomes for children and families.

QualificationsEducation: A Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education OR a Master’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Counseling with an emphasis in marriage, family, child counseling, or a closely related field.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience equivalent to a journey-level Social Service Practitioner in San Bernardino County, performing complex social work assignments, comprehensive diagnostic assessments, in-depth clinical intervention, and treatment plans for a government social work agency. Experience as a Social Worker II or Social Service Practitioner I is not considered qualifying. Candidates with qualifying experience in a government child welfare agency are highly preferred.
Additional preference is given to candidates with customer service focus and experience in a lead or supervisory role. Completion of a supervisory development program is desirable.

Conditions of EmploymentTravel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out essential job-related functions. Proof of automobile liability insurance and a clean driving record must be maintained.
