Join the Stabilization Training Assistance Reintegration (STAR) Acute Crisis Homes team in Solano County. Support individuals with developmental disabilities during acute crisis, providing care, emotional support, and promoting independence. This role is person‑centered, community‑based, and offers a rewarding opportunity for those passionate about making a positive impact.
Working ConditionsThis position requires lawful authorization to work in the United States. The Department does not sponsor employment visas. On‑going interaction with individuals with developmental disabilities and severe psychiatric and behavioral conditions at STAR residence. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood‑borne pathogens, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment. Work may include planned and scheduled travel with possible overnight stays and mandatory overtime as needed.

- Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) – provide license number, class, expiration date, and endorsements.
- Drug screening must be passed prior to hiring.
- Background investigation must be cleared prior to hiring.
- Medical clearance prior to hiring.
- Valid Psychiatric Technician License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners – provide copy before hiring.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate, or obtain within 60 days of employment. High school diploma or equivalent required for certification.
- Complete competency‑based Direct Support Professional I & II training or pass the challenge test within one year of employment.
- Minimum qualifications as specified in the Classification Specification.
- Experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities who have challenging behavior needs.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance and complete required trainings.
- Knowledge of cultural sensitivity, positive behavioral supports, trauma‑informed care, and less restrictive techniques.
- Proficiency in working with severe behavioral and psychiatric conditions including aggression, self‑injurious behavior, and suicidal ideation.
- Six months prior experience with individuals who have challenging behavior service needs.
- Coaching skills training and person‑centered practice experience.
- Experience in self‑defense and hands‑on intervention training.
