We operate a small college‑like campus in Fair Oaks that houses many of our students full‑time. We are seeking a passionate and dependable individual who excels in a client‑facing role and is motivated to help the client succeed.
The Student Coordinator is integral to the client’s success. The ideal candidate will have case management skills and experience working with the neurodiverse community or in a related field.

Status: Exempt, Full‑time

Schedule: Monday–Friday with extra hours during crunch times

Salary: $70,304.00 – $72,000 annually

Job Responsibilities

Direct Support

  • Guide clients in a non‑judgmental/empathic listening space to create and achieve measurable goals, which can be included in an ISP report
  • Facilitate meetings with clients and others in the clients’ circle of support at least once per year to create or update the ISP. Update the Regional Center at least one additional time per year regarding client progress on goals, strengths, barriers, and/or changes in program delivery.
  • Plan regular meetings and periods of observation with 12‑16 Community Day and/or Independent Living Skills clients to assess goal progress, determine what strategies or interventions are needed to support the client, and empower the client by facilitating discussions around exploring problem‑solving strategies
  • Provide client support during breaks or lunch as needed
  • Teach how to manage negative emotions, resolve conflict, & communicate in social settings
  • Promote and teach independence, self‑advocacy, social/communication, emotional regulation, and self‑reflection skills
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure clients are aware of schedule changes and guide clients in determining an appropriate schedule of courses

Case Management

  • Document and develop effective client strategies to monitor client goals
  • Collaborate with the departmental Directors and staff on the development and implementation of clients’ learning plans aligned with Meristem’s missions and teaching philosophy
  • Represent Meristem as a stakeholder in company meetings and as assigned for meetings with DDS and Regional Centers
  • Maintain positive and effective communication with client families, Regional Center Service Coordinators, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with program guidelines and adherence to state, local, and federal requirements
  • Communicate client progress, emergent needs, opportunities for growth, and other relevant items in the Community Day or Independent Living Skills program to staff and stakeholders
  • Support clients and payers through critical transition periods, such as returning from breaks or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Provide communication as client conflicts arise and ensure a smooth transition as needed
  • Advise and communicate with the Work Skills team regarding internships & work placements

Training/Supervision

  • Direct the implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISPs) department‑wide through direct observation and support of clients and instructors within the Community Day and Independent Living Skills sessions
  • Mentor developing staff and participate in the interviewing process of new staff
