Athletic Trainer

Title: Athletic Trainer

Reports to: Activities Director

Supervises: Athletes in the training room. Any student athletic trainers involved in the day-to-day operations of the training room.

Provides care for athletic injuries. Coordinates efforts with team physicians to provide therapeutic rehabilitation in an attempt to expedite the athlete's return to competition while keeping the student s mental and physical welfare as the top priority.

Certified Athletic Trainer - N.A.T.A. Certification

• Performs such other duties which may be assigned by the athletic administrator/principal.
• Responsible for the treatment and supervision of treatment for all minor athletic injuries and conditions.
• Responsible for referring athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or
• Develops and supervises appropriate rehabilitation programs for athletes under the direction of the physician.
• Responsible for the organization, inventory and requisition of all training room materials and equipment.
• Must be present at all varsity football games and practices, junior varsity and freshmen games; must be present at all home varsity boys and girls basketball games and all wrestling meets.
• Will make all other home contests (Soccer, baseball, softball and volleyball) when available; responsibility will extend to providing training supervision at all home tournaments and major track meets or state competitions.
• Will be in the training room or on the athletic complex until 5:30pm every day or until the last team practicing leaves the field.
• Continues professional growth by attending clinics and staying abreast of latest trends and techniques in athletic health care procedures.
• Completes reports of all disabling athletic injuries on proper forms and submits to athletic and nurses  office within 24 hours.
• Shall perform all other duties assigned by athletic administrator.
• The trainer shall not be permitted to coach or assist in coaching any sport while serving as trainer.
• Promotes the activity within the school by recruiting students that may have potential or interest in athletic training.
