Position: BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST II
Location: California

Position Overview

BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST II – California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) – Stabilization Training Assessment Re‑Integration (STAR) Acute Crisis Homes. This role supports adolescents (11‑17) and adults (18+) with developmental disabilities within four to five bed community homes in Solano County (Vacaville, Springville, Costa Mesa).

Pay Range

Began with an entrance salary of $8,685.00 for the Behavior Specialist II classification. Pay ranges $8,685.00 – $9,342.00, with new State candidates hired at the minimum classification salary or alternate minimum when applicable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living and provide emotional support in a community home setting.
  • Promote independence and safety for residents, ensuring person‑centered care.
  • Collaborate with the STAR team to implement behavioral intervention plans and crisis‑response protocols.
  • Document progress, incidents, and intervention outcomes in accordance with state regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Effective drug screening clearance prior to hire.
  • Professional background investigation cleared prior to hire.
  • Valid Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification from the National Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Applicants may apply within one month of receiving certification and must include the expected certification date.
