Psychiatric Technician (Safety) – Mule Creek State Prison, Ione

This part‑time position (6/10 time, 24 hours per week) has a monthly salary range of $3,680.40 to $4,705.80. Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) will reduce the base salary by 3% and add 5 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Part‑time employees are subject to the same prorated conditions.

Job Description and Duties: In addition to custody responsibilities, the incumbent provides basic behavioral and psychiatric nursing care under general supervision.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care.
• Assist in training psychiatric technician trainees and ancillary staff.
• Facilitate the rehabilitation of forensic clients, patients, or inmates through attitude, knowledge, and performance.
• Collaborate with other teams, agencies, health care partners, and community organizations to support rehabilitation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE.
• Applicants within four months of completing the BVNPTE‑accredited curriculum may be admitted to the examination, but must secure the license before appointment.
