POSITION OVERVIEW: The primary focus of the Payroll Manager position is to provide specialist knowledge and operational administrative abilities to the Human Capital department. This role leads and owns compliance with a broad set of applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and guidelines, and is the point person on Payroll and Timekeeping while also supporting other related systems, departments, and functional needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Process regular and off-cycle payroll for a multi-state employer with the highest focus on timely, accurate work and compliance with all applicable policies, laws, and statutes.
- Audit employee data and timesheets and respond to questions, working with managers, employees, HC, and vendors to ensure accurate payroll records and reporting of time worked, time off, attendance, leaves of absence, and other related items.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll system to ensure salaries, earnings, deductions, benefits, garnishments, accruals, taxes, entitlement balances, and other critical data are correct, compliant, and functioning. Leads remediation projects/process for such items where appropriate.
- Review and process payroll tax filings and year-end payroll-related activities, including W-2, HSA, ACA, and other documents, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Serve as SME for Payroll and Time/WFM modules of HRIS with responsibility over some Core tasks related to Payroll and Time/WFM. Stays current and assists colleagues with awareness and comprehension of all applicable system updates and enhancement opportunities, and relevant underlying processes and policies for assigned areas.
- May lead, assist, or collaborate with supervisor, Learning & Development Program Manager, or other HC Team roles to develop training and education materials as they relate to Payroll, Timekeeping, and other areas of responsibility.
- At least three years as the primary Payroll user in Dayforce HRIS/HCM Payroll & Time and related Core functions, Time Away from Work (TAFW), and Entitlements/Balances.
- Experience must be with Dayforce (formerly Ceridian) and must be able to lead end-to-end Dayforce Payroll processing and own the module independently.
- Experience working in a multi-state environment; an exception may be if you only have CA experience.
