Job OverviewThe Compensation Specialist is a subject matter expert responsible for designing, managing, and analyzing compensation programs that ensure market competitiveness and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role manages compensation projects and initiatives, including pay equity, incentive programs, and annual compensation cycles. The Compensation Specialist provides guidance to HR and business leaders while driving compensation process improvements that enhance efficiency and governance.
ProgramDesign and Strategy
- Participate in and manage projects involving the development or redesign of compensation programs, including base and variable pay programs.
- Deliver strategic assessments, modeling, and budgeting for compensation programs and initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve compensation processes and implement automation or redesign strategies.
- Lead complex administrative initiatives for annual compensation planning, including merit increases and incentive payouts.
- Develop guidelines, tools, and communication materials to support leaders and HR partners during the cycle.
- Ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting for compensation programs.
- Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with pay equity and pay transparency legislation across all jurisdictions in which 123
Dentist operates. - Conduct audits and prepare compliance reports; develop action plans to address gaps.
- Support implementation of pay equity programs and ensure adherence to governance requirements.
- Conduct market analysis by participating in surveys and leveraging external data sources.
- Perform cost and financial analyses related to compensation and total rewards to inform recommendations for leadership and executive decision‑making.
- Prepare presentations and reports for senior leadership and Board‑level review.
- Serve as a subject matter expert within a Total Rewards framework, providing guidance to HR and business leaders.
- Share expertise to strengthen team capabilities and partnerships.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure compensation programs align with organizational goals.
- Support implementation and optimization of compensation systems (e.g., HCM platforms).
- Continuously assess and improve compensation processes for efficiency and consistency.
- Post‑Secondary Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources.
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- 5–7 years of experience in compensation, with demonstrated knowledge of Canadian pay equity and pay transparency regulations.
- Bilingual in French and English is required.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office tools, with advanced focus on Excel for data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling.
- Bilingual in English and French is required.
- Experience with HCM systems and compensation tools (ideally Workday).
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from complex information.
- Proven ability to communicate complex compensation topics clearly to various audiences.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and balance competing demands in a fast‑paced environment.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and integrity.
