Acacia HR Solutions provides fractional HR support to small employers (1-500 employees) and startups across the U.S. Our clients rely on us to manage their HR functions with the same depth, care, and expertise as an internal team. We offer a unique, relationship-first model that emphasizes continuity, proactive guidance, and strategic alignment with client needs.
We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist who will play a critical role in supporting multiple clients by handling the full range of HR administration and generalist-level responsibilities. This role requires direct, hands-on HR experience, not adjacent or transferable skills. You’ll manage day-to-day HR tasks across various client industries and work closely with client contacts, employees, and internal Acacia team members.
This is a billable-hour-based role with a clear expectation for maintaining client-facing productivity. Full-time team members are expected to meet a set billable hours target per week. All time is tracked using our time tracking software, and hours are reviewed weekly to ensure consistent client delivery and balanced workload management. Internal development, team collaboration, and administrative tasks are also part of your work, but performance is ultimately measured by your ability to meet client needs and consistently deliver against our service standards.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the HR point of contact for assigned clients
- Administer day-to-day HR tasks including onboarding, offboarding, benefits coordination, compliance tracking, and policy administration
- Support employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary processes, and documentation
- Process or support payroll-related tasks within client systems
- Manage client HRIS platforms and ensure data accuracy
- Assist with leave of absence coordination and benefits escalations
- Provide guidance on HR best practices and compliance requirements
- Communicate clearly and professionally across all levels of client organizations
- Accurately track time daily and meet service-level expectations
What You Bring
- 3+ years of recent HR Generalist experience (not office management, operations, or recruiting-only roles)
- Strong working knowledge of employment law. California labor law knowledge required (multi-state experience preferred)
- Experience working with small employers or in a consulting/fractional model is a plus
- Ability to prioritize, self-manage, and meet deadlines without constant supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work across systems like Gusto, ADP, Paychex, Bamboo
HR, etc. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A client-service mindset with a high degree of professionalism and accountability
What to Expect
- Structured 90-day onboarding with coaching and skill-building
