Head of BioAnalytics Scientific Affairs and R&D
IDEXX Bio Analytics is experiencing strong growth as a Contract Testing Organization (CTO), supporting over 4,000 research organizations with innovative bioanalytical solutions. The business is positioned to accelerate its regulated service offerings, leveraging organic expansion and targeted M&A to lead as a trusted scientific partner for biopharma innovators and next-generation research pipelines. Opportunities for further scale are significant, especially through building GLP- and GMP-compliant capabilities and expanding ISO-accredited and research-use laboratory sites.
Within this context, the Head of Bio Analytics Scientific Affairs and R&Dwill play a pivotal role in shaping IDEXX Bio Analytics’ scientific vision—for both regulated assay and cell/preclinical testing services—and driving the evolution of its bioanalytical CRO pipeline. Reporting to executive leadership, this individual will develop and execute strategies for new scientific service development and portfolio expansion, partnering across teams and with external clients to anticipate and meet the regulated testing needs of cell therapy and preclinical biopharma customers.
What You’ll Do:Formulate and lead an R&D and scientific affairs strategy to expand and differentiate IDEXX Bio Analytics’ regulated assay and cell testing portfolio, closely aligned to the needs of leading biopharma and advanced therapy clients.
Bring a forward-looking vision for bioanalytical CRO pipeline expansion, identifying new scientific growth areas and integrating emerging technologies that position IDEXX Bio Analytics at the forefront of the market.
Serve as a scientific thought leader, cultivating a collaborative innovation culture, mentoring scientific teams, and proactively engaging with customers and industry stakeholders to drive future-ready testing solutions.
Champion innovation in assay/platform development, data delivery, and technology adoption to enhance customer experience and maximize scientific value.
Partner with regulatory, business development, and operational leaders to ensure newly expanded services meet the highest standards of GLP, GMP, and ISO compliance.
Advise on scientific and regulatory best practices, actively monitoring industry trends, guideline evolution, and client needs.
Represent IDEXX Bio Analytics as an expert leader in client, regulatory, and scientific forums.
Support on-market serologic, PCR, genetic and microbiology test service including test development and improvement.
Lead a high functioning team of veterinary scientists responsible for on-market test support and new test development. This team also provides scientific support to customers regarding testing services and test results.
PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Neuroscience, or related fields in biological or biomedical sciences.
DVM or MBA a plus.
Minimum 10 years’ experience leading scientific R&D or scientific affairs in global bioanalytical, pharma, biotech, or CRO/CTO environments.
Deep understanding of the regulated testing needs for cell therapy, advanced therapies, and preclinical biopharma service customers; experience shaping and launching such programs in GLP, GMP, or ISO-compliant labs.
Demonstrated ability to chart and execute a vision for bioanalytical service innovation and pipeline growth, coupled with track record of scientific thought leadership (publications, presentations, industry groups).
Strong people leader with experience inspiring, mentoring, and enabling multidisciplinary scientific teams.
Confident communicator and collaborator, effective at engaging clients, regulatory agencies, and executive leadership.
Innovative mindset, strategic perspective, and commitment to advancing IDEXX Bio Analytics’ position in evolving, regulated markets.
Salary range starting at $200,000based on experience
