Position

ABOUT THE ROLE

ZOO Digital are currently seeking an IT Systems Administrator to join our team based in El Segundo, CA. The IT team provides around the clock technical support to a wide range of ZOO Digital departments, covering the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of essential business systems and equipment.

As IT Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for managing, configuring, and maintaining ZOO’s IT infrastructure, with a focus on Linux-based systems. The role involves overseeing the installation, performance tuning, security, and troubleshooting of servers and networks, ensuring high availability and reliability. You will also be responsible for handling system backups, updates, and patch management, as well as monitoring system health and promptly resolving any technical issues.

The IT Systems Administrator will collaborate with ZOO’s teams to implement IT solutions, support automation, and enforce best practices for system administration and security.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring system performance – analyzing performance data and trends, identifying potential issues before they escalate, regularly checking system logs, CPU usage and network performance
  • Scheduling and managing regular backups to prevent data loss, ensuring data integrity by testing restore processes
  • Conducting regular security audits to identify areas of vulnerability and ensure compliance with security policies
  • Providing technical assistance to end-users for hardware, software and network issues, troubleshooting and resolving system problems to minimise downtime
  • Managing Helpdesk tickets and assigning tasks accordingly
  • Creating, modifying, and managing user accounts including permissions and access rights to appropriate resources
  • Installing and configuring software and hardware, including servers, workstations, operating systems, applications and software updates
  • Maintaining networks and network file systems, overseeing the functionality of network components such as routers, switches and firewalls
  • Developing and implementing backup strategies to safeguard data, creating and maintaining disaster recovery plans to ensure quick recovery from data loss events
  • Managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Radius Event Logs, and other security‑related tools
  • Maintaining system performance on Linux, troubleshooting issues, and automating administrative tasks via scripting
  • Administering and supporting Linux‑based servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat)
  • Participating in after‑hours and weekend on‑call support rotation for end‑user computers, networks and servers
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation of systems configurations, procedures, and changes
  • Creating and updating internal wiki pages to document processes, procedures, and best practices
  • Planning and executing system upgrades to improve performance and functionality
