The IT Production Support Assistant works under the direction of a team lead or section manager to support production applications running in mainframe and midrange computing environments. The role supports production jobs in mainframe and mid-range server environments, including job creation and scheduling, job execution, monitoring and troubleshooting of job issues. It also involves supporting mainframe COBOL applications using the source code storage and compilation tool to promote program packages and members, as requested by application developers.

The assistant sometimes works in a paired programming environment for knowledge sharing and training, reviews and submits procedural documentation, and participates in team presentations to build team skills expertise. Incident tickets are managed using a tracking software application, and the assistant coordinates and controls the operation of the mainframe console, assignment of devices, and input and output devices by executing jobs according to predefined schedules.

The work occurs in a 24/7/365 full coverage environment.

• At least 2 years of experience in IBM mainframe operations and production control, including job ordering, holding, submitting, canceling, and monitoring using Control‑M.
• At least 2 years of experience managing incident tickets in a data center environment using a tracking tool such as Cherwell Service Management.
• At least 2 years of experience with mainframe software Endevor, moving application programs and source elements such as JCL, procedure files, and control statements to Endevor libraries.

A high school diploma or equivalent.

This position operates on a 24/7/365 schedule and may require day/swing/overnight shifts. The role offers a hybrid telework/office workplace.
