As a Hardware Product Manager at Proto, you will identify new product opportunities, translate those opportunities into product requirements and work with a best-in-class design, engineering, and manufacturing team to turn those ideas into new products or features. You will also monitor the performance of our devices in the field and apply a wide suite of telemetry and feedback tools to ensure that our customers have the best mining experience possible.
You will be responsible for continuously identifying and executing on ways to improve your product(s) through a deep understanding of our customers, competitors, and the changing landscape we operate in.
- Develop expertise on Proto’s current product portfolio to ensure strong product performance and inform future roadmap decisions.
- Understand the impact of your product(s) on the main customer segments and the business impact of your product to Proto.
- Identify and finalize requirements for the products you support, leaning on customer research, market research, and internal knowledge.
- Partner closely with design, ASIC engineering, hardware engineering, software engineering, operations, program management, and other teams to drive prioritization and execution of important new initiatives.
- Have a high-level understanding of technical and operational aspects of the product that need to be considered as context or inputs into product decisions.
- Monitor field performance of in-field hardware and investigate new issues to provide the relevant technical teams with a place to start and a sense of importance / urgency.
- Effectively communicate product tradeoffs to senior leadership and broadcast important decisions to your cross‑functional partners.
- 4+ years of product management experience or equivalent product strategy and customer insights experience.
- Preferred – Experience developing hardware or applications that interface with hardware.
- Experience leading the delivery of products / features / projects which have a high degree of cross‑functional complexity and integration.
- Consistent emphasis on – and empathy for – customer needs.
- Bias to action – if it needs doing, you’re already working on it, and with the right level of scrappiness for the task.
- Great interpersonal, communication, organizational, analytical skills. A proven ability to influence.
- A passion for Proto’s mission of accessible mining tools and well designed hardware products.
