Assistive Technology and Alternative Media Specialist

Western University of Health Sciences is seeking an Assistive Technology and Alternative Media Specialist to provide instruction, technical assistance, consultation, training, and resource materials to students registered with the Harris Family Center for Disability and Health Policy (HFCDHP) and faculty and staff.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, instructional design, special education, or a related field, and experience working with individuals with disabilities in higher education. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and knowledge of assistive technology and alternative media are required.

The Key Responsibilities of this role include:

• Coordination of Assistive Technology:
  Evaluates students’ need for assistive technology, recommends and provides training on assistive technology, and maintains inventory and records.
• Technical Support for Accessible Course Content and Digital Accessibility:
  Provides technical assistance and training to faculty and staff on digital accessibility and assistive technology.
• Coordination of Alternative Media Production:
  Develops and implements policies and procedures for alternative media production, assures quality of production, and maintains records.
