POSITION SUMMARY:

MOHELA is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support our IT Security team. This opportunity is ideal for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in information security governance, information assurance, policy development, compliance, and risk management within a professional corporate environment.

The intern will gain practical experience supporting the organization's efforts to protect information assets, maintain compliance with information security requirements, and strengthen its overall security framework. This role provides valuable exposure to cybersecurity governance, security policy development, risk management processes, and security reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Governance and Policy Development

• Review existing information security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Assist with updating and drafting security policies, standards, and supporting documentation.
• Research industry best practices and security frameworks to support policy development and governance initiatives.
• Support the continuous improvement of information security governance processes

Information Assurance and Compliance Support

• Assist with documenting security controls that protect organizational information assets
• Support compliance reviews and evaluate adherence to established policies and standards.
• Research regulatory and industry requirements relevant to information security programs.
• Help prepare and maintain compliance-related documentation and supporting materials.

Risk Management and Security Reporting

• Assist with identifying, documenting, and tracking information security risks.
• Support security reporting, metrics collection, and dashboard development using security tools such as Splunk and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Help maintain risk registers, corrective action tracking, and governance documentation.
• Assist with research and analysis that supports risk management and security decision-making.
• Gain practical experience in information security governance, information assurance, policy development, and risk management.
• Learn how organizations protect information assets and maintain compliance with security requirements.
• Develop technical writing skills through policy development and governance documentation projects.
• Gain exposure to industry security frameworks, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Learn how security risks are identified, documented, tracked, and mitigated.
• Gain experience with security reporting, metrics, and dashboard development using tools such as Splunk and Microsoft Sentinel.

  This part-time position requires approximately 15 hours per week, with flexible work hours scheduled within regular business hours. Internship is expected to begin in early February 2027 and conclude in May 2027.
• Compensation: This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $16 per hour.
