Position: Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster
Location: California

Job Description

We are looking for a highly capable Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster to join our team and work from any of our offices. The position reports to a manager based in North Carolina and focuses on adjudicating workers’ compensation indemnity claims in the jurisdictions of AZ, CA, MA and others to provide superb results for our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Adjudicate higher‑technical‑complexity workers’ compensation claims independently within significant limits and authority.
  • Resolve generalized issues that are not complex, demonstrating a broader understanding of claims and policies.
  • Report claims trends and developments to claims management and underwriters.
  • Identify loss drivers and trends to reduce claim frequency and severity through data analysis and improved claim management.
  • Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties.
  • Analyze claims forms, policies, endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine policy coverage.
  • Manage litigation claims and document case status for best financial outcomes and timely resolution.
  • Create and review reserves in line with market and Argo reserving policy.
  • Assign and coordinate resources to assist in case resolution.
  • Prepare reports for file documentation and apply creative solutions for optimal financial outcomes.
  • Settle straightforward claims within authority limits and follow organizational referral procedures.
  • Negotiate cost‑effective solutions for the company and its customers within limited authority.
  • Prioritize workload, complete telephone calls, and produce written correspondence to various parties.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience (minimum two years of adjudicating workers’ compensation claims in AZ, CA, and MA).
  • Must be licensed in FL, GA, or TX and able to quickly obtain a license in each jurisdiction requiring a license to adjudicate first‑party claims.
  • Good business acumen and independent judgment with respect to significant matters.
  • Strong focus on execution and proven ability to deliver expected results.
  • Client focus and ability to develop productive relationships with clients, business partners, and peers.
  • Excellent communication skills, effective time management, and strong claim negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business‑related software.
  • Must be a licensed claims examiner or have the ability to obtain a license in each required jurisdiction within 120 days.
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary ranges and benefits are commensurate with experience. Additionally, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance and receive a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.

  • Albany & Chicago: $84,500 - $99,500
  • Los Angeles or New York City: $92,000 - $108,400
