Your role

We are seeking an aspiring, self-motivated, and collaborative Assistant Project Manager to join our team in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Join a team of experts committed to leading projects and building relationships across our Northern Canada business unit. T his position will require you to reside in Yellowknife, NWT or be willing to relocate.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with clients offering strategic guidance while contributing to impactful projects that elevate standards of living and improve quality of life through enhanced community infrastructure. Our team is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of northern communities, supporting reconciliation efforts, promoting economic opportunities, and fostering climate resilience and environmental stewardship. Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to improving the communities you work in by respecting local knowledge, customs, and the culture of the people, particularly Indigenous communities.
  • Continuously develop delegation skills and take on increasing responsibility for leading project deliverables.
  • Gain knowledge of Colliers’ service lines and actively promote these services to support clients effectively.
  • Learn the essentials of building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Provide project delivery support to assigned Project Managers (PMs) to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Execute tasks in compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) to maintain high standards of work.
  • Build expertise in Assistant Project Manager responsibilities and deliverables.
  • Support Indigenous communities in fostering economic growth through strategic land planning, land development, and business development initiatives.
  • Assist and support various orders of government in emergency preparedness and recovery efforts after climate-related disasters.
  • Collaborate with community leaders, stakeholders, funding partners, and design and construction professionals to plan and implement capital building and infrastructure projects.
  • Engage with diverse client groups, including various orders of government, Indigenous groups, private enterprise, and NGO’s, across both public and private sectors.
  • Travel to project sites and remote communities may be required on occasion.
Qualifications

  • Ideally 1-3 years of experience in project coordination, with exposure supporting project delivery in fields such as construction, engineering, abatement and remediation.
  • A technical certification or diploma in Engineering or Construction (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience).
  • Familiarity with codes, regulations, contracts, construction administration, and site inspections.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A client-focused approach with excellent customer service abilities.
  • Experience in fostering long-term client relationships and collaborating with community governments and Indigenous groups.
  • Interest in attaining a PMP certification would be a valuable asset.
