Qualifications

Under general supervision of the Slot Director, manages the Slot/Sports Book Department objectives by planning, organizing, and managing all slot operations and other departmental activities and services. Ensure compliance with established laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to include the Tribal State Compact, and Gaming Ordinance for Slot/Sports Book Operations. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

  • Provide leadership to supervised staff and assigned areas of the Slot/Sports Book Operations. Participate and provide input in Slot management activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements in all areas. Adhere to established quality, service delivery, customer service, and customer demand expectations. Adhere to all audit, and legal regulations/laws and practices.
  • Ensure departmental services meet or exceed customer expectations and are delivered according to established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the Slot Operations and in all activities.
  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and direction in the maintenance, monitoring, and compliance of a Strategic Plan.
  • Ensure department procedures are developed, enforced, implemented, utilized and effective. Ensure effective practices are in place and adhered to. Ensure employee review, counseling, development, and recognition activities are in place and utilized effectively.
  • Ensure personnel understand their duties and responsibilities and have the resources available to carry them out. Establish departmental performance measures. Monitor work performance and take corrective actions to ensure the responsibilities of personnel are conducted. Ensure all personnel adhere to all established personnel policies, procedures, and departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements in all areas.
  • Develop slot technical department plans goals and objectives consistent with the objectives of the slot division.
  • Achieving financial objectives by preparing and administering the annual budget; presenting and justifying budget recommendations to Slot Director; monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with departmental budget.
  • Review monthly income statements, general ledgers, and profit and loss statements to monitor the profitability of the department.
  • Anaylzing gaming machines for game selection, labor costs, layout, denominations, and gross income; ensures the timely repair of machines in compliance with reporting system requirements.
  • Monitoring machine reports to ensure bill acceptors are in working condition and that the reporting systems are operating effectively.
  • Ensure machines and equipment are operating at peak efficiency; assist in the purchasing of necessary equipment and parts to maintain optimal equipment function.
  • Observes and recognizes irregularities in casino personnel or customers and institute appropriate action.
  • Investigates and resolves customer complaints and determines the basis of grievances.
  • Pays jackpots as needed and completes W-2 forms if necessary.
  • Maintain and secure necessary controls for the Slot operations.
  • Protects the casino’s assets by safeguarding all assigned department equipment, radios, money bags, keys, and other related assets.
  • Monitor, edit and complete payroll reports.
  • Complete fact-based investigation of alleged infractions of department works rules, Tribal policies and procedures, Title 31, W2G. Follow up training or progressive discipline when required.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field plus three years management work experience in gaming operations, one year management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be 21 years of age in California. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, random drug and controlled substance abuse tests, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license in California and Arizona.

Native American preference and/or experience with Native American culture and government preferred. Tribal preference given to qualified tribal members.
