The UXO Safety Officer works as a lead UXO safety specialist on site.

• Meet the criteria for, and perform the functions of, a UXO-TIII, UXOQCS, and UXOSO.
• Ensure compliance with DoD Military Service- and/or DDESB-approved site plans.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on-site munitions response and operational range clearance activities.
• Supervise up to ten UXO teams.
• Assist in the development of required plans (e.g., health and safety plans).
• Review all field reports (daily reports, audits) and approve UXO team reports.
• Evaluate the risk of movement of UXO or DMM within an MRS or operational range with the UXOSO, and provide approval for movement by a UXOT when the risk of movement is determined to be acceptable.

• At least 10 years of EOD/MEC experience if an EOD school graduate, or 13 years if a graduate of a UXO Technician I school.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work hard to get the job done.
• Experience with UXO-TIIIs, UXOQCSs, and UXOSOs and ability to supervise and perform on-site destruction or demilitarization of MEC.
• Ability to develop and implement explosives and health and safety plans in accordance with applicable DoD, federal, State, and local requirements.
