Under the general direction of the District Budget Manager, a Staff Services Manager II, the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) is the working level administrator who serves as Assistant District Budget Manager. The SSM I is fully responsible for direct supervision of the District's Position Control and Project Control units responsible for managing the District's positions, Personal Services Dollars (PSDs) allocation, Persons On Board (POB) database, project control activities, and the Project Control database.

The incumbent serves as the district professional on position and project control policies. All district activities and projects require project IDs which establish the approved budget for an activity or project. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that project IDs are properly entered into the Department's financial database, AMS Advantage, and are maintained throughout the life cycle of the activity or project.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the STAFF SERVICES MANAGER I exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
